Kevin
Parrish is a traditional freehand oil painter, who has been painting
full
time since 1995.
Born,
Birmingham UK in 1953, Kevin has an English, Welsh background
and
had an interest in drawing and sketching from an early age.
However
he made a career in Civil Engineering as a Contract
Technician/
Draughtmen for 24 years, from 1971, as this was considered to be
a
proper
job at the time by his family, rather than becoming an Artist..
There
were opportunities for world travel with this career,
which
widened his horizons and gave him an understanding on the
perspective
of lives and culture around the globe.
He
has met some wonderful people on his travels and is still in touch
with many of them today.
His
Art career began in 1993, creating Railway scenes with the
Guild
Of Railway Artists in Warwick UK
working
in oil colour and also had some success creating
Portraits
and Landscapes other genres.
Then
in 2002 Kevin had a notion about creating pieces of
Art
in black and white after acknowledging the
resolution
and quality of black and white photography
and
realising the potential that a monochrome 'look' might
bring
to a painting.
His
ideas were reinforced by a local gallery, who thought there
may
be a market for black and white Art and commissioned
him
to paint a series of bygone scenes of Birmingham and London.
This
led to two sell out exhibitions at the gallery 2005 and 2008.
He
also became Resident Artist at this Gallery from 2006,
meeting
and serving the Public, and helping with running the gallery.
Buckingham
Fine Arts published three no. images
(black and white Limited Editions) in 2006. They were, Teddy Bear's
Picnic,
Down
At The Rub Dub and Little Miss Mop.
In
summer 2006 , Kevin's black and white Art was exhibited
at
the Royal Pump Rooms, Royal Leamington Spa as part of Warwickshire
Artsweek 2006.
Kevin
paints from dark to light, with highlights consisting of
several
layers of paint. Art lovers have remarked that his
artwork
looks three dimensional and is alive and vibrant.
His
inspiration comes from looking at photographic material and/or
visiting
scenes insitu. He then creates a sketch (more than one if it is
a commission, letting the commissioner choose his or her best option
for
the final painting)
Then
home to his own studio to create the final painting,
adding
his ideas on how the image should finally look.
Kevin's
art has appeared on various types of merchandise over the years,
including Jigsaw Puzzles, CD's, Greeting Cards, Limited Edition
Prints etc.
He
has often been featured in the Local Press and related Magazines
over the years and his Art can be found in Private Collections in
UK and overseas.
He
also a member of the Guild Of Railway Artists where he promotes
his British Steam Railway Art in England and Wales. 'Train On Time'
won first prize at Kenilworth Arts Festival in 2011. See 'Original
Paintings For Sale' page

Warwick School. This is the oldest boys Grammar School in England
dating back to King Edward the Confessor (1042-1066). He has also
painted Kings High School for Girls in Smith Street, Warwick, which
also has a deep history.

Kevin is at leisure he is usua, lly Rambling with a local group,
experiencing
the natural world with all its wonder or keeping fit playing
Tennis
at his local club.
