Yes music (Progressive Music) Gallery
After listening to the vinyl album Close To The Edge for the first time in the early 1970s, I became enthralled by Yes’ complex, challenging and uplifting musical style and from then on was always looking forward to their next studio album to be released.
Yes were formed in 1968 in London by Jon Anderson and Chris Squire.
Like so many bands starting up in the late 1960s, Yes were influenced by the BEATLES and especially their first concept album in 1967.
They were also influenced by classical composers
Yes provide a wonderful musical experience which has a TIMELESS BEAUTY of its own and gets better with each listen, with cosmic lyrics and the voice of Jon Anderson, which is used like a musical instrument adding to Yes’ unique progressive sound.
Some of their songs can last up to 20 minutes.
I have always considered their music compositions to be like listening to a tapestry of sound.
The band have always been evolving and changing since their inception in 1968 with each new member adding a fresh dynamic to the Yes sound, but still unmistakably Yes.
Yes make the world a better place.
Their music has inspired me, the visual artist, to create a few images through my minds eye.
