Steam Locomotives in monochrome oils.
I fell in love with Steam Locomotives from an early age, especially with the larger pacific type locomotives. They have a grace and grandeur and a beauty of their own exemplified by the external motion of their valve gear, connecting rods and driving wheels and are like a living thing as they expel their steam and smoke.
My first colour paintings of trains was inspired by the artist of the century, namely Terence Cuneo. A prolific artist, who worked in various genre, but his main focus was steam railways. See his video by selecting “Duchess visits Leamington” and “Sir Nigel Gresley visits Leamington” below
