City of Truro on the SVR
The Inspiration:
freehand and painted in oils
We witness the famous City of Truro no 3440 hauling a passenger train crossing the B4343 road from Cleobury Mortimer on into Bridgnorth Station on the Severn Valley Railway in the late 1960s.
She achieved over 100 mph on a short test run and was built at Swindon Works for the GWR in 1903 as part of a 10 number City Class of passenger locomotives at the time.
It was designed by Railway Engineer G J Churchward
Giclee prints size 16 in x 12in priced at £60 each are for sale.
