In 2002 I was invited to join Warwick Studios Art Gallery in Leamington Spa founded in 1972 as an oil painting Artist, with the prospect of a solo exhibition, pursuing a nostalgic theme of life in Birmingham during the mid 20th century. We agreed to use black and white monochrome oil paints medium, as opposed to colour, to hopefully create a niche market, as not many artists paint in black and white. The proprietors became my agents leading up to my exhibition in 2005.
It was a successful venture with good press coverage and a sell out of original paintings with a heaving presence of customers, including some members of my family which was a joy to see.
In 2006 I was asked to become a Resident Live Artist in the gallery after the proprietors moved to larger premises. This enabled me to meet many potential clients and art lovers which resulted in many commissions. Also in 2006 the prestigious fine art publishers Buckingham Fine Arts based in Milton Keynes published three of my images showcased in my 2005 exhibition in the form of a Limited Edition Print Run.
In 2008 I had another sell out solo exhibition in the gallery, this time portraying life in a Birmingham and London theme in the mid 20th century. Again it was well attended with some good press coverage too. On several Friday evenings we had parties in the Gallery where the public were able to come and see the latest exhibits over a drink at the gallery bar. The Warwick Studios management certainly knew how to entertain their customers and many sales were made this way and I think a good time was had by all.
